This was first posted on my other site http://www.robslitbits.com in response to the initial wave of horrendous actions in Syria. I thought it good to post here as well, particularly as more and more pictures of broken and damaged bodies find their way to our eyes. Perhaps we can stare into the abyss together and find the pin pricks of light needed to show people the way home and bring about justice and peace where it is so desperately needed.
I recognize this is not the first of its kind. Others have also shared just such things in the wake of the recent, horrific atrocities in Syria. I feel impotent to change much of this. But I can write. And I can pray. Here, I do both. Join me…please.
Lord, they did not ask for dusty feet
sandaled and sore
to walk over the flesh and bones
of neighbors and friends,
of brothers, sisters and parents.
They didn’t ask to be brought before
someone else’s tribunal on imagined
charges of being what they should not be,
what you created them to be.
They did not seek out this desperation
that found them huddled, fearful and crying.
To see the bloated bodies of fellow pilgrims
floating down the river, under bridges,
stuck and floating on rocks jutting out
and shaking bony fists at you for justice,
is to see a God too…

Nice poem. What if….life is a play of energy and consciousness and we are creating all of it? What if…..scientists aren’t discovering things but are actually creating them? What if….everything is a dream and an illusion that we are creating? What if…..we “are” God?
Just some thoughts………

What brings me to the place of forgiveness is the frightening prospects of two major powers rattling their sabers at one another…. with blind intentions of “limited nuclear engagement”. Mankind, in all his hubris, designing and employing custom medium-range weapons with “dial a yield” payloads! Not only will these unfortunate Syrian women & children suffer the atrocities of regional war, but soon the entire globe may be drawn into a conflagration that makes Hiroshima and Nagasaki look like Chines New Year in the park. It makes one shudder in horror.
ISlL becomes little more an convenient excuse for global annihilation… and the extermination of Shiite, Muslim, Christian, Taoist, Buddhist, Quaker, etc. looms large as a reality sans Enlightenment.
Can we forgive God then? Will there be anyone left to forgive?
